Antix Furniture - The Ardéchoise Collection
Antix Furniture - The Ardéchoise Collection

The Ardéche and Cévennes regions of France both have hard climates and poor land. Therefore furniture was not made by cabinet makers but by users themselves. As a result, construction methods were rudimentary, doors were simple wooden panels without stiles or rails, hinges were made of leather or oak, latches served as locks and carvings were naive and sculpted by hand. Antix have redesigned, built and finished these pieces, while taking into account the needs imposed by modern life.

Antix Furniture - The Louis XV Collection
Antix Furniture - The Louis XV Collection

It would not be an exaggeration to say that the reign of Louis XV was a time of lost pleasures found once again after a long period of wars and suffering. The furniture of the period reflects this change. The lines have lost their stiffness and become softer, both graceful and asymmetrical at the same time. For many furniture buffs, Louis XV is the "beau style" in the highest sense of the word. However credit must be given to his famous ancestor Louis XIV. During the 18th century, cabinet makers combined the Louis XIV and Louis XV styles and Antix have done the same.

Antix Furniture - The Rustic Collection
Antix Furniture - The Rustic Collection

From the 17th to the 19th century (inclusive), provincial cabinet makers made extremely simple furniture, designed for their customers needs. These pieces were neither Louis XIV, nor Louis XV - they were simply rustic. They were characterised by their square doors and straight bottom rails. This style fits in every where and blends perfectly with all of the other styles including contemporary.

Antix Furniture - The Louis Philippe Collection
Antix Furniture - The Louis Philippe Collection

Who is not familiar with the Louis Philippe style, its characteristically elaborate cornices, its doors level with the frame, its feet covered with carved wooden curlicues? The style is both Parisian and provincial at the same time and well adapted to the different types of wood, particularly oak, in this collection. Most of the pieces in this collection are faithful reproductions of the original models.

Antix Furniture - The Mistral Collection
Antix Furniture - The Mistral Collection

This collection consisting of about 20 pieces was born from the stroke of a pen as fast as France's regional wind, the "Mistral". Antix wanted it to be light, elegant and function in order to appeal to the younger generation. It is true that it appeals to young people, but has also been successful with furniture buffs in general since it is actually quite close to the Louis XVI style, the last great style of the 18th century.

Antix Furniture - The Jet-Set Collection
Antix Furniture - The Jet-Set Collection

The Jet-Set collection features three of Antix's top of the line collections. They were designed for a privileged clientele, cultivated, with the necessary space and income to buy only the best. The Templiers and Commandeur collections tables are perfect for a special evening with friends but without the worry of wine stains and knife scratches all over. With the Dovetail collection the balance and pureness of forms blend harmoniously with the thickness of the oak and the quality of the woodwork, particularly the dovetail joints. I all an unique collection of furniture.

Antix Furniture - The Bedrooms Collection
Antix Furniture - The Bedrooms Collection

We can guarantee you that all of Antix's wardrobes will creak at night, just as if they were inhabited by ghosts from the past! To be truthful, it is just the wood adjusting to room temperature. If the air is too dry (in the summer because of heating), the wood will dry out and shrink by a few millimetres. If the air is too humid, it will expand once again. These little noises are not the only pleasure you will derive from this bedroom furniture. Each piece has been carefully designed for easy use. All are made of solid oak with a special patina whose smell of wax will linger on for many months.
